I’m M. T. Bostic, a freelance multimedia journalist specializing in music, military, sports, and food coverage through both photography and writing. Based in Eastern Iowa, I contribute to local publications and blogs across the Iowa City and Cedar Rapids area.
In my full-time role, I serve as a Sergeant First Class in the U.S. Army, currently commanding a recruiting station. My military background brings a unique level of discipline, structure, and storytelling perspective to everything I do—whether I’m documenting the intensity of live music, the emotion of a sports moment, or the cultural resonance of a shared meal.
My creative journey began with music. I started on piano as a child and later picked up the trumpet, electric bass, and percussion. That lifelong love for music gives me a special connection to the performing arts—especially live theatre, dance, and comedy, where rhythm and expression collide on stage. Whether I’m behind a camera or the keyboard, I’m drawn to stories that move.
I’m also a former track athlete and soccer player who remains passionate about football, basketball, and racquet sports like tennis and racquetball. My sports coverage is informed by experience and fueled by genuine fandom.
And yes, I’m a self-proclaimed foodie. I love exploring the culinary arts—from family-owned restaurants to food trucks to street festivals—and celebrating the way food ties people, cultures, and communities together.
My work lives where documentation meets emotion. Whether I'm shooting a headline concert, profiling a local veteran, or capturing a weekend food crawl, my goal is the same: to tell meaningful, people-centered stories that resonate long after the shutter clicks or the final period lands.
